Please take the most accurate colour photographs as soon as the fish is landed, as colour fades and disappears almost completely when the fish is out of water and dies. Accurate photos allow us to custom paint your fish reproduction. Close up shots will be appreciated so we can see more detail thus ensuring an accurate replica.
For tag and release fish, please take accurate fork length measurements and girth. Thus enabling you to receive the same size replica.
Do not gut, scale or clean the fish if you would like a replica of the fish caught by you.
Wrap the fish in a moist cloth or newspaper before placing it into a plastic bag. Do not place the fish directly into a plastic packet.
Lay the wrapped fish on a flat piece of cardboard or any board and place in a freezer. The fish needs to be frozen as soon as possible after capture.
If no freezer is available please place the fish in the coolest place you can find. Never in water, until it can be frozen.
When freezing never bend the body or fins. Make sure the tail is properly wrapped in damp newspaper as this can dry out and break easily.
Do not place anything on top of the fish before it is frozen.
Preparation for sending the fish to us
Please take an old bathroom towel, wet it properly and wring it out.
Take the frozen fish from the freezer on its board and wrap it in the damp towel.
Place the whole lot in strong plastic bags and wrap it tightly with selotape or insulation tape.
Place it back in the freezer and freeze for 12 hrs.
Stored in this manner the fish can be kept for many months until you find the opportunity to deliver it or courier overnight to us.
